Home v Earley Home Guard
4-1

League

DC continued their recent run of good form by beating league leaders Early Home Guard 4-1.

Richard Scaldwell made a change from the usual 4-4-2 formation to include an extra man in the middle of the park.

DC went ahead after a ball in behind the defence allowed Owen Temple to run onto the ball, round the keeper and score in an empty net. DC kept the pressure on Home Guard who were struggling to cope with the pressure the midfield were putting on them and went 2-0 ahead when Richard Scaldwell headed in an Andy Fookes corner. It got better still for DC before half time when a scissor kick from Owen came back off the bar and the keeper and into the back of the net. The goal was given to Owen who claimed the ball crossed the line before hitting the keeper.

DC had to defend more in the second half and Home Guard got a goal from a long ball over the top. The DC defence had to stand firm as Home Guard applied more pressure and got their reward when Owen completed his hat-trick with just a few minutes left, lobbing the ball into the top of the net from the edge of the box.

Man of the match this time round was Owen Temple for a superb hat-trick.

Starting XI:

Home v Loxwood Park Rangers
3-0

League

DC got the second win in a week with a 3-0 victory over Loxwood Park Rangers on Thursday.

DC started well against a good Loxwood team and took the lead in the first half after Jenson Langford rose at the far post to head home Fooksey’s corner. It became 2-0 shortly after when Owen capitalised on a loose ball in the area and bundled it home from just a couple of yards out. Jenson scored again in the first half to make it 3-0 with a right footed shot that curled into the far corner.

Loxwood came at DC for the second half but the defence stood firm.

Man of the match for a superb display in the middle of the park was Richard Scaldwell.

Home v AFC Southfield
2-0

League

DC made it 5 wins on the trot and moved up to 5th in the league table with a 2-0 victory over AFC Southfield

In a tight game DC started slowly but were gifted the opener when the Southfield keeper kicked it straight to Simon Langthorne from a goal kick. Using his paced he got in behind the defence and made it 1-0. It soon became 2-0 when the ball came loose in the Southfield box and Steve Bell slotted the ball home. DC started to create more and more chances and it should have been 3-0 when some good team play created an opportunity for Jenson who was unable to finish the move.

Southfield put the pressure on in the second half but DC held on and didn’t really allow Southfield to create many chances.

Man of the match this time out was DC skipper Neil Sprackling.

Starting XI:
Subs
Ref
O'Neill; James Knight, Bovey, Sprackling, Fookes; Barker, Scaldwell, Bell, Temple, Langthorne, Langford
Taylor, Entract
