DC kicked off a delayed 2009 with a Home game against Polish Social at Wargrave. Despite a strong defensive performance from Matt Bovey, Social found themselves 2-0 up at half time although DC were not out of the game. Richard made his 3 substitutions early on in the second half with Danby, Chris and Jordy making way for Tom Entract, James and Ollie

DC got their first goal of 2009 when substitute Ollie played the ball across the 18 yard box to Owen who found the top right hand corner of the net. However DC fell back two goals behind after Rory was to busy offering to fight the Social manager for making unwelcome comments than stop the shot which came at him! This seemed to give DC extra incentive to win and got back into it again when Simon headed home from close range to reduce the deficit… game on!!

DC equalised when Ollie found space in the area and fired the ball low into the left hand corner of the goal. The comeback continued as DC took the lead for the first time in the game as Simon found space in the area and calmly slotted the ball home. With Social rattled DC continued to push on and Jenson continued his good scoring run this season by slotting the ball past the keeper to make it 5-3. Simon grabbed his hat-trick and then his forth of the match although it looked distinctly like and OG from the touchline.

The man of the match award was split this week as Owen put in a fantastic second half performance to inspire DC to victory but the chance would not have been there without Matt’s strong defensive display. Well done chaps!
