v Bayer |
1-1 |
Berks
and Bucks Rnd 2 |
| The second round of
the Berks and Bucks Cup pitted DC against Bayer from the Newbury
league. The home side received a suprise as the Newbury side took
the game to DC in the sticky conditions. After surviving an early
onslaught and taking their time to settle into the game, DC started
to create space and chances. Tom Entract was causing trouble down
the right and it was his shot that led to DC's opener. His shot
was palmed out by the keeper but only to the feet of Chris Taylor
who passed the ball into the open net from a couple of yards. Tom
then scored his first for the club with an identical shot to his
first although the keeper could not reach it. The turning point
in the game came as Craig was concussed in a collision which led
to Bayers first goal. Neil replaced Craig in the net and was unable
to prevent Bayer scoring a second goal. Scaldie had put Steamers
3-1 up by this time after Steve Bell slotted a delightful pass through
the defence to find Scaldie at the back post. Bayer applied a lot
of pressure in the last 10 minutes of the game and nearly got the
equaliser late on. |
