v Rifle Volunteer |
1-5 |
League |
| A spirited
DC performance was marred by a serious eye injury to Owen in the
first half. Whilst battling for the ball on the floor with a rifle
player, Owen went to head the ball away just as the opposing players
boot swung in to clear it. Instead, Owens eye took the full force
of the kick leaving him able to see through the hole in his eyelid.
Simon scored DC's only goal of the game from an acute angle. |

v Alfred Head Athletic |
3-5 |
County
Cup Round 1 |
| A
depleted Steamers side limped out the County Cup at the first hurdle
to Alfreds Head Athletic despite taking the lead and levelling twice.
Andy opened the scoring with a well placed shot before the opposition
equalised and then took a 2-1 lead. Rory equalised midway through
the first half after the keeper found himself in no mans land leaving
an empty goal to his mercy. Alfreds then took a 3-2 lead into the
halftime break. DC felt that the game was there for the taking and
Chris pulled the Steamers level with thunderous strike from 2 yards
after a defensive mixup. With Kevin and Steve Danby both suffering
from hamstring problems and players playing out of position, DC
tired and conceded two more goals before the end of the game.

v Imaan |
1-3 |
League |
| DC put
in an encouraging display despite it resulting in a 1-3 reverse
and a fifth successive defeat. Simon scored his fourth of the campaign
with a thrust of his backside from a driven corner. DC soaked up
pressure from Imaan and held the lead going in at half time. Imaan
then equalised in the first minute of the second half and were then
awarded a penalty which the referee admitted he didn't see !!!.
Rory saved the initial penalty but could not do anything to prevent
the taker scoring from the rebound. The home rapped the game up
with a well placed header midway through the half. |

v Good Companions |
5-2 |
League |
| DC emerged
victorious from this game which turned vicious in the latter stages.
Steve Bell put DC on their way with a grass cutter which the keeper
should have done better with before Simon added two more to his
seasons tally. The companions pulled one back after a failed clearance
before Rob scored with a delightful header into the far corner from
a corner. DC continued in the second half where they left off and
created a lot more chances. Owen was unlucky not to score when put
through one on one with the keeper, his chip just went over the
bar. Chris then found Andy at the back post to increase the Steamers
lead to four goals before the referee awarded the Goodies a penalty
(probably because he needed to give his team a lifeline back into
the game) which was converted. Things started to get nasty as the
game wound down. The Goodies number 8 lost it and threw a punch
at a Steamers player before kicking Chris up in the air which left
him visiting A&E later that evening. Duncan replaced Chris before
Owen was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge which left the
Steamers player with 2 long stud marks down his thigh.
