DC Steamers 1 Whitley Tavern 5
After a month without a game due to Sportsman withdrawing from the league and no games being scheduled, the Steamers crumbled to Whitley Tavern. The Steamers held out until 25 mins into the game when the ball was lost in midfield and a up and over ball found the opposing striker in acres of space. His drive found the back of the net and already the boys were facing an uphill battle. Whitley went 2-0 up when a long and high cross looped over Chris Taylor's head (that's not hard) into the path of the advancing striker. After a fracas between team mates (Chris and Tony), Steamers conceeded another goal before half time. Steve Bell pulled a goal back from the penalty spot early in the second half but Whitley scored two more midway through the second half including one from the penalty spot. The starting lineup was as follows: Tony Dempster; Wayne Makepeace, Ray Townsend, Duncan Glen, Stuart Brown. Chris Taylor, Steve Danby, Nick Smith, Rory O'Neill; Jenson Langford, Steve Bell. Subs: Richard Jordan for Chris Taylor, Mickey Sheehan for Rory O'Neill. Subs Not Used: Nigel Giles, Mark Jarman
