After a hard fought battle on a boggy pitch, both teams emerged from the game with a point each leaving te scoreline the same as it was in the corresponding game last season. Rory O'Neill had to step in and take the refereeing duties due to the apearance failure of the assigned referee. Howard Cooke had the Steamers best effort when he made the best of a half chance only to see it hit the post and off for a goal kick. Chris Taylor, Seb Rivers and Ray Townsend all entered the fray during the second for Jenson Langford, Richard Jordan and Duncan Glen respectively but were unable to help score the winning goal. The starting lineup was as follows: Tony Dempster; Howard Cooke, Duncan Glen, Wayne Makepeace, Steve Danby; Richard Jordan, Mark Jarman, Nick Smith, Paul Allen, Steve Bell, Jenson Langford.
