Thames Conservancy 5 DC Steamers 1
Duncan Glen scored his first goal of the season as the Steamers were brushed aside in the Ted Cambridge Cup. The game was more or less already over within the first 20 minutes as Thames went into a 3-0 lead. The first being down to bad defending and the second a complete fluke but oportunist shot. A 30 yard lob which just fell in under the bar beyond Jason Knight. Two more followed through bad defensive errors before Duncan Glen followed up a Steamers corner by side footing into the net. Wayne Makepeace replaced Mark Jarman during the first half as Mark injured himself. The second half saw Richard Jordan and Mickey Sheehan replace Paul Allen and Nick Smith and both managed to help the side look for a comeback. Unfortunately Thames managed to gain a fifth goal and a place in the third round of the Ted Cambridge Cup. The starting lineup was as follows: Jason Knight; Neil Wilson, Andy Holt, Paul Allen, Ray Townsend, Duncan Glen; Mark Jarman, Nick Smith, Steve Danby; Jenson Langford, Rory O'Neill. Subs: Wayne Makepeace for Mark Jarman, Richard Jordan for Jenson Langford, Mickey Sheehan for Nick Smith.21st Nov

The Steamers lost their return leg with the table topping team but went down with a determined fight. Paul Allen found himself back in the first team after a few weeks on the bench because Chris Taylor had been called to work earlier that morning. Rory O'Neill was moved from midfield up to forward in the absence of Steve Bell as JJ moved into the midfield. The first half saw the Steamers go behind from a back post header but they still pummeled away trying to get an equaliser. Woodley shaded the second half with possession and eventually doubled their lead when a shot found its way through a crowded area, made Tony pull off a spectacular flying save only to put the ball onto the head of oncoming Woodley striker. Wayne Makepeace, Richard Jordan and Mickey Sheehan all made appearances but could not help the Steamers crash to another defeat. The starting lineup was as follows: Tony Dempster; Neil Wilson, Andy Holt, Paul Allen, Ray Townsend, Duncan Glen; Mark Jarman, Nick Smith, Steve Danby; Jenson Langford, Rory O'Neill. Subs: Wayne Makepeace for Duncan Glen, Richard Jordan for Jenson Langford, Mickey Sheehan for Rory O'Neill.14th Nov

Eventually, after a referee deciding not to want to referee and the league double booking Nat West' pitch, the game got underway at DC 's home ground with a Nat West Player refereeing. Nat West had just come off the back of a 14-1 win against the Sportsman and were certainly up for the game. It was Chris Taylor though who gave the the 'visitors' the lead. Jenson Langford dummied the ball and let Chris race into the area and drill a low shot into the near post from an acute angle. Ray Townsend then scored an own goal as a ball was hammered into a crowd of players. Ray stuck out a boot in the attempt to clear it and unfortunately deflected it into the far corner, past Tony Dempster. The early period of the second half saw Steamers pile on the pressure looking to add to their tally. Jenson Langford took that responsibility on by chasing down a Nat West defender whilst he waited fo the ball to drop. Jenson took advantage of the mistake that followed and rifled the ball past the stranded keeper. Steve Danby then took a corner mid way throught the second half and scored directly from it. Duncan Glen and Chris Taylor were later replaced by Paul Allen and Richard Jordan respectively both due to being completely knackered. The starting lineup was as follows: Tony Dempster; Neil Wilson, Jason Knight, Ray Townsend, Duncan Glen; Chris Taylor, Mark Jarman, Nick Smith, Steve Danby; Jenson Langford, Steve Bell. Subs: Paul Allen for Duncan Glen and Richard Jordan or Chris Taylor. Not Used: Mickey SheehanTop 7th Nov
